How to Set Up a Donut-Style Tree Watering Bag

A donut-style tree watering bag is an efficient tool designed to provide slow, deep watering to newly planted trees, helping them establish strong root systems.

Using a donut-style watering bag simplifies the process of caring for your newly planted tree, promoting healthy growth and reducing the risk of transplant shock.

Set Up Instructions:

1. Placement

Lay the empty donut-shaped bag around the base of the tree, ensuring it encircles the trunk without touching it directly.

2. Filling

Open the fill port and insert a garden hose. Fill the bag with water until it’s full.

3. Water Release

The bag will slowly release water over four to six (4 -6) hours, allowing deep soil penetration.

Check out the above video to learn how to install your water bag.

How do I know if my tree is getting enough water?

Check soil moisture 2–3' feet from the trunk using a garden trowel. If it's damp 6" inches down, your tree has enough water.

Monitor Soil Moisture

Check the soil moisture regularly to ensure the tree is receiving adequate water.

Avoid Overwatering

Ensure the area around the tree has proper drainage to prevent waterlogging.

Seasonal Use

Remove the bag during winter months to prevent damage from freezing temperatures.

Refilling Schedule

Fill once a week in mild weather; twice during heatwaves or when temperatures are over 25°C.
